Curing fin rot?

I have a percula clown in a QT as of now. Tomorrow will be his fifth day in treatment using the medicine marcly two. The fin rot has gotten better, the fin isnt really melting off the fish, it seems to have sewn together I guess. Should I give him another 5 day dosage? The box says I can give him another five days if needed. Or should I bring him back into the display after the fifth day?

Also, If I have to give him another 5 days, can I do a water change since the QT is only temporary?

How are you ridding your QT of ammonia? Is there a nitrification filter in your QT?

Many people don't cycle the medium used for QT. I always do very well, particularily in QT. This is why I ask.

If you do not have nitrification in QT, you will have to change water often.

I generally treat fish that already has established external bacterial infection on their body for ten days. I can do so easily if the antibiotics that is effective against the pathogenic bacteria will not affect nitrification bacteria much. Neomycin and kanamycin are frequently this type. Trace of nitrite but no ammonia.

If your fish is returned to the DT before it is entirely cured, resistant strain of the bacteria may develop.

I hate to tell you that for a duration, before your fish has developed immunity against them, the concentration of pathogenic bacteria in the water affects whether your fish will get bacterial infection. Your fish may get infected again. This is why I always use UV especially for the duration of stocking fish for prevention of external bacterial infection for the most part, up to about three months after the last new fish.

so should I do another 5 days? I would rid the QT of ammonia through water changes every couple of days.
