ok i am setting up a new 55g reef tank and I was wondering if its ok to chage up my landscaping while i'm curing my rock in the tank. should i take any precautions or so on while i'm staring up this tank?
thanks
as long as there's no corals or anything in there (or fish) you dont have to worry about anything. Now is the BEST time to rearrange the rock till you get it how you want it.... I'm dreading when i have to move my 40 breeder across the room to the other side... Much easier to fix your rockwork while there's nothin in there yet.
yes of course i was not going to put any coral or fish in yet but my main thinking was if i want to take a few pieces out to maybe drill them out for pvc tube to make it more stable ...if that makes sence...maybe it sounds dumb
You could drill them....pull it out and drill it quickly (not sure how you drill rock...my luck it would just crumble lol) and put it back in water ASAP. Try not to keep it out of water for so long, you know?
you putting pillars in the rock to hold it up? if so, that's some serious construction and you'll probably do well in the hobby being so thorough.. I've thought about drilling for anemone homes, but figured with my luck they would move and I would have an eyesore or have to settle with a different creature in the spot.
thanks for the advice and of course i would use a excellent drill bit. really what i want is a nice arch and obviously there will be a good amount of weight on it using pvc and bending it to the shape i want. is there any other advice on how to do this and are there any draw backs or things to look for when drilling rock that is curing?
