So I just put in my order for 20lbs of Haiti live rock from Drs. Foster and Smith's eTropical.com. Had a local supplier of live rock, but was not impressed with the conditions of their tanks and feel I will be getting a better product. My question is on Curing, on their website they tell you to put it in a 30g plastic trash can with twice weekly 100% water changes until it is cured or it will kill all your fish and such in your tank with the die off. I have just set up my tank and the only thing in it is this "live sand" substrate I bought in a bag from Petco. Can I safely cure it in my tank since there is nothing in it? Or will it kill off whatever organisms/bacteria came in the sand? Also, do I have to do a full 100% water change twice a week? For one in the tank it wouldn't be a truly 100% change, secondly I use DI water, and can burn through a cartridge in about 10-15 gallons of water produced. Thanks for the help!!!!
