Ok so I have been curing 90lbs of live rock for about 13 days now. I have 4 100% water changes now. I have been doing alot of reading about lr and i came across about something that said you should never cook your lr ?

What does cooking mean ?

I have the lr in a 75 gallon tank outside on my porch. I have 2 korlia 4's running and another power head pushing 300 and a hob filter with charcoal & ammonia chips in it.

I do have a heater in there set at 78f i dont know how hot it gets during the day because im not usually home in the hottest part of the day. I live in fl so i know it gets pretty hot.

the ammonia .50 is the only thing im getting a reading on as of now.
How much longer should i wait

and is it being on the porch with huge temperature swings a bad thing ?

Thanks & sorry for the long post

cooking LR simply means putting the rock in a dark container with powerheads an a heater. the point of it is to starve the LR of light to kill off the algae. and there is nothing wrong with doing it. but it does take monthes to do.

I would be worried tha the temp in fl. is gonna get to hot and keep killing everything off till there is nothing left. I know here in IOWA we are getting som 98 degree days and that would kill off alot of stuff on rock.

your cycle will prob. last another 3 weeks or longer though.
