So I should put the shrimp in the blender? I have a 14 gal biocube how many shrimp should I use?

I have an old blender for this purpose and also to make food for fish.

I suggest that you do not use the only blender if you have a wife.

Finely chop just one smallest shrimp sold. Add half of it in day one; put the other half in the freezer and add it at day 14.

Finely chopped shrimp will not slow the process significantly, as long as there is some ammonia at day one, it will do just fine. In 4-5 days, all the bits of the shrimp will be gone.

Chances are no its basically the same as dead rock. Start to cycle I like to use a piece of raw shrimp in a nylon bag leave that in the water and that should start the cycle. that being said I myself would cook the rock in a solution of muriatic acid and water first then rinse with ro water a couple of times. Then start the cycling process with fresh rodi saltwater. Hard telling what kind of things are attached to the rock after sitting stagnant for so long.

I would test for phosphates before deciding on a course of action and if you see phosphate I'd do what Mark suggested (acid bath). You might get lucky and only need to cycle the rock, but chances are when everything died, you'll have a lot of phosphate bound to the rock. If you don't get rid of it now, you'll be dealing with it (expensive GFO) for a while to come as it slowly leaches off the rock.

oh and when done with the water sprinkle with baking powder to neutralize it prior to disposal
