I doubt it is there to help the titan.......I'd try to get it off of it through a bath with Formalin 3 or fresh water dip. Does the trigger flick?

i'm not able to check now. will have to do a once over when i get home.

thx, will let you know. i posted in disease forum here - but since it never gets any traffic i posted in the saltwater fish dot com disease forum too.

It does look like some kind of parasite but its so hard to tell from just a picture. I don't like the fact that its so close to the gill.

my eyesight isn't great and my screen is small, but it kind of looks like an isopod/amphipod. if so, it would be a parasitic one.

can you try to gently take it off with fine tweezers? if not, if you confirm that it's a parasite, look for a post by uberfugu about a parasite INSIDE the gill of his anglerfish. he finally got it out with some sort of treatment, but I don't remember exactly what he did...

ack - hope its not what uberfugu had!! that was bad.

i'm home now, took a look and can't see anything - so whatever is is, it's definitely mobile! will keep you updated if i find anything.

never noticed it till i looked close at that photo. which i took two days ago - tonight when i went to look closely at it it is not there.

Looks like an isopod. Seeings as you found it attached to the fish, it's most likely a parasitic one. As you've found, they can leave the fish. Check all the fish at night after the lights are off. If you find it again, remove the affected fish and gently pull the isopod off with tweezers. Of course place the fish back in afterwards ;)

thanks for the advice and feedback everybody, much appreciated.

billsreef - I have my tweezers, net, bucket, towels, etc.... at the ready!

Agree with the FW dip first. That should help, it may even come off on it's own if your FW dip tank is BB you could see it.

they were in 100 - now 135. not much of a change, but 6 ft is better. and will last a long while if i just keep the two trigs and the hawk in it.

have to wait till carpeting and painting are done to set it up
