Current and seahorses

I have been looking at seahorses and debating about getting one. I have a 125 coral tank. Flow is generated by 2 hydor koralia 4s, one at each end of the tank. Will this be too much current for a seahorse? Thanks for the input.

Their are a few people that use the koralia's. I do not do to the fact that their tails could wrap around them and get chopped off.

What type of corals do you have?

The flow may be to much depending on how your tank is designed. They love to play in the flow but also need places of low flow to rest in.

Mainly have LPS. For some reason I can't keep SPS alive in my tank. I will get appropriate plant life for them to hang on to of course.

I have a 75 gallon frag/holding tank I could keep him in. That has low current if the 125 is too much.

a normal reef tank is usually too warm for seahorses. they do much better in water 72-76F and i have heard that they do not do well with LPS.... they might get eaten or stung by them since they are not the best swimmers. You might want some more experienced people to chime in... i dont have horse yet, but i have been researching them for almost a year

Thanks for the info. I have been reading a lot about them but never knew that. That's cool though. Guess they will be put off until I can dedicate a tank to them.

www.seahorse.org has a good list of corals and fish for seahorses.
They do not do well with anything that has sweepers or stingers.
Their temp should be below 74 degrees F. This helps them live longer and less bacteria.

+1 to CCall's comments. i've seen SH that have had their tails amputated by Korallias. the nano is OK as it's covered.

SH swim a lot better than peeps give them credit for, and do enjoy a bit of flow, but they also need quiet spots to rest. additionally, SH don't do well with fish that compete with them for food, nor do they tolerate fast-swimming or aggressive fish. they are easily put off their feed by such tankmates.
