I don't think that is too bad from a old fixture and bulb that are due for a change in july

I am running 150w MH coralvue(I think) double ended MH's(3).
2-96W 10,000K four pin double bulb daylights in the front.
2-96W 420/460nm combo four pin double Actinic Bulb.

both CF's are Current Brand.

I think I paid 37/ea for the MH's
and 32/ea for the compacts.

I believe the whole sale was 397.++

I am wanting to possibly switch to the LED's and increase my PAR in doing so. I want to be able to raise my light off my water, mine rests less than 4" from the surface and it is a 72" fixture that I can't lift by myself.

Well seeing your results depresses me. Those of us who bought the solaris at full price was totally screwed. I guess when its redone with the newer generation leds i should be fine, just feels like a money pit at this point.

Ah, don't get discouraged. I bought my set-up used not really knowing much about it even. I just got lucky. I shopped for months for lights as far as price and appearance.(Mostly I am cheap)...and wanted to really find the most bang for my buck. Like I said my fixture is huge bulky and close to my water which makes getting into my tank difficult. It takes two people to lift it off the tank. Chris has been talking about some kinda DIY project like a garage door kinda something that can evenly lift a light fixture and lower it off a tank.

v1 rotate has a pretty cool piece of equip for a light lift ...i saw it on his (a reef in the sky) thread maybe he could tell you exactly what it is.
