You may be able to dig up a different kelvin rating bulb for that halogen, but it would probably be a tough task.
Looks like a neat little setup! If you do build another one, look into the Weldon or JB Weld products, as I understand they chemically bond the acrylic pieces together, so your seems would last longer and have a cleaner look. (Don't get me wrong, your acrylic bead is nicely done, but with a less obvious sealant you probably wouldn't be able to see it at all.)

yea if i do decide to make another (which i may to at one ponit to replace this) i will with out a doubt buy the weld on and do it correctly. THank you guys for the compliments. I would like to keep riccoridas, zoas, and i guess just some other mushrooms, i'll get like two astrea snails and i would lov eto get a fire shrimp ifi could. Would 80-84 be an acceptable temperature?

Hmm, i may have to replace the halogen with another form of light came home today from school after the light had been on from 6am till about 2:15 the water is around 86 degrees, BUT it is very warm these last few days and my house is about 78 degrees. I'm going to continue to record my results and i'll try to figure out about how much the light raises the temperature.
What would be an acceptable temperature for what i want to keep?
They make a 10 watt PC bulb that screws into a normal socket. I have one on my 2 and i luv it.:beer:

Yea originally thats what i was going to use, but not sure if i have room for the fixture and the bulb in the current hood. After looking around it looks like temp varies a lot, some say low 80s other say under 90 is okay.
Any chance you could measure (oh nad maybe take a picture?) of the light and the socket id really appreciate it man and WELCOME!

Well, i made a decision, stop being stupid and ignoring what people are saying. I broke down the tank (returned the rock and sand to the other tank) and emptied it until i can get some weld on 3 and 16 to do the tank correctly. No it did not leak but i didnt want to have a setup nano reef and than BAM one day have it come apart. I will restart this thread when ever i get the stuff. Here is a chart of the temperature for today.

This is what you need
Weld-On #40 2 part Plexiglas Acrylic glue
Weld-On #40 2 part Plexiglass Acrylic glue is a clear two-part, reactive,
high-strength cement for bonding all acrylics to each other and to polyester,
butyrate, PVC, styrene, wood, etc. If you have seen those "invisible" bonds in
acrylic plexiglass aquariums - this is the adhesive to use. Also excellent for
laminating plexiglass pieces together, and to other materials.

Also I wondered about using halogens...but they are way too hot. For my nanos I
stuck with Power compacts.
When you redo your tank...Get an 70mm or 80mm computer fan off of ebay and
mount it in the canopy..its super easy to wire it to a 12 volt 300ma adapter. You
might also want to cut a vent in the top of your canopy to get some of the heat out
from the halogen. The fan will help keep the water temp stable.
Or you can go here and get a Acrylic nano cube for a really low price...I think one
your size is about $25 plus shipping.

Still need some help guys. The tank is up and running (just no lighting on it yet) I'll get pictures ASAP.
I need to know if id be able to keep a coral banded shrimp and a red scooter blenny (he does eat frozen food i have him living in my other tank).
I think im going to keep just ricordias and zoas as far as corals go .

alright thanks reefman. I'll get pictures once i get the light in and i make the top right now its pretty boring haha. I used rock and sand from my already existing tank (and some water too). I shouldn't have a problem adding the corals to it within this up coming week correct?

Let's see some pics fishy!!!
It may go through a small cycle just from changing parameters, but I wouldn't imagine it would take more than a week to find a balance if everything came from an established tank.

alright here are the pics. (It looks like there is still silicone, heres the dealo. I couldn't clean it all off the acrylic, and actually it hardened up very nicely after the weld on was put on so it's like it created a second seal)

got the light and made the canopy yesterday, got green clown goby today 
. hes sort of just hanging by the rock hasn't swam much but i'll give him a few days. Waiting to order my corals from etropicals
