Custom AGA tank order. How long?

I ordered a custom 90 from AGA back in late October. I was told it would be in by mid December. It's now a month late. Anybody have experience with how long it actually takes?

I'm in the same boat as you! I had a special order tank from AGA and it's now 5 weeks late from the date that I was promised So I know how ya feel. Everyweek they keep telling my just one more week! I'm really about to cancel my order!

maybe it was delayed over the holidays. think about it. you've got Thanksgiving and Christmas in that time period, 2 large holidays.
plus, depending on where you are there has been some rough weather.

that's just a theory.

Yeah, I guess the holidays could delay things a bit. I know MY productivity dropped off a tad during that time frame, but dang it I want it now! Took 'em 3 weeks to get back to me with a price before I even ordered it!

You don't think they know about the upcoming holidays when they are scheduling upcoming plant time??? C'mon. They are just telling you whatever you want to hear to get the order. I tried dealing with these guys when planning my tank but spent more time waiting for responses then actually doing the planning. I ended up going elsewhere and so far I am very glad I did.

mine took 10 weeks. I was told 4-6 weeks.

If you are in the Western part of the country go with LeeMar. I got my custom 100G Diamond Edge in less than 3 weeks and its much nicer than any AGA.

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if AGA has any representatives on this board. I just called AGA and was informed that "The guy from customer service that handles custom orders is on vacation and won't be back until the 22nd". No one else fills in or knows anything about custom orders in the whole place when this guy is gone. Talk about job security.

Matt, How long ago did you order/receive your tank. You happy with the 90?

I ordered mine about a year ago. I ordered 2 corner overflows. I'm happy with it but, while the overflows fit Dursos well, they take up more real estate than I'd like.

That's exactly what I ordered. Crap,I was kinda worried about them taking up too much space.

I recently heard that AGA was in the process of switching locations and that it would be a difficult time for them to fulfill special orders because of the shift. But thats simply what my LFS informed me about a month ago... but I do not know if there is any truth in that

Sounds like bad business on AGA part. You should always factor in Holidays, downtime, possible winter weather. Not being harsh, but one should always quote with a cushion and if it gets there early than the customer will love you forever and if on time, then you kept your word.

How does one contact LeeMar? Do they have a website?

They do but its not much of a site. Most LFS have a catalog from LeeMar that they will show you and they call LeeMar directly with questions and to order. My tanks is a 100G reef ready Diamond Edge with a custon offset center overflow and 5 factory drilled holes. I really like the diamond edge treatment as it does not have silicone in the corners like regular tanks do so its really clean looking. You might contact them and find out who your local distributor or stocking LFS is.

Yes this is true. They merged or bought or were bought by someone else. I can't remeber which. I talked with them today.

Update... LFS called today and told me the tank was in. Halleluyah! Only took 15 weeks, not SO bad I guess. UNTIL I got to the store. Seems the distributer submitted the wrong form and the tank AGA built was NOT the tank I ordered. Back to square one. i'm glad I kept a copy of my order form. Pet store has to eat the tank now. This sucks....
