custom aquarium

Has anybody purchased an aquarium from glasscages? Don and I want to setup a frag tank 4ft by 2ft 16in deep. We have looked at their website and are considering buying one from them. We are not sure about buying from them because we have seen both good and bad reviews. Any feedback would be helpful.

I all so thinking about getting a tank from them. From what i get out of the bad reviews is that there tall tanks. The one I would be getting is 18 tall so i think you should be fine

Well they are pretty much hit or miss.. I got quotes from them on both my custom tanks.. They are much cheaper then the better builders.. But you are taking a risk with them.. A lot of people are happy with their GC tank. There are also a lot of people that aren't. For a frag tank they should be fine.. #1 complaint with them is sloppy silicone #2 would be scratches on the panels. ON the plus side you can pick it up in person at their shop so unlike other people that meet them on the road or get it shipped atleast you can inspect the tank really well before you take it.
I've seen several of their acrylic tanks and you couldn't give one to me. So what ever you do don't get a Acrylic tank from them!!

I've seen many glass tanks made by them. The frag tanks at Aquarium Designs may have been made by them, but I'm not sure. I've seen, and set up, quite a few 200-300 gallon custom tanks from them. The silicon job wasn't spectacular, but 9/10 of them I couldn't tell any difference between a glasscages and a perfecto. For a frag tank, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from glasscages. For a 300 gallon showroom starphire tank, I'd be there to pick it up and if it was bad I'd make them redo it

Thanks, for all the info. Does anybody know anything about Ocea products. They are located in Boaz, AL. I did not know that we had a company that made aquariums in Boaz.

Monica, my tank is a glass cages tank. I have been quite pleased with mine and the savings were great for a large tank. Smaller tanks the savings go down as the competition goes up. You can get a nice smaller tank from Pet Smart at a good price.

Curtis, we want a custom tank because we want a center drilled return. We want sapphire glass on all four sides because this tank is going to be a center piece in our aquarium room. We also can not find the exact size we are looking for in a standard tank. Your tank is very nice.

There is indeed a custom aquarium shop in Sardis close to Boaz, AL. We went there this afternoon and was impressed by Ty Harris, his staff and shop. Nice people and cool operation. He does not have a retail outlet in our area so he is willing to sell to us wholesale. He is currently making tanks for one of the stores in BHam. Nice aquariums. He is getting back to us with a quote for what we want.
