Custom Glass Aquariums in Chicago?

Anyone know of a local vendor for custom glass aquariums? I'd rather avoid the $450 shipping cost and everyone I can find locally only does acrylic.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I just resurrected a 3+ year old thread...but besides Miracles, GC, and Great Lakes...any other custom glass tank makers in the Midwest?

I'm looking to have a tank made.

Thanks,

Jason

I'd go for Great Lakes, rent a truck and bring a couple buddies for a day long project. I've seen several glass cages tanks at my LFS and I always check them out. They are built like a tank and the seams look good. But the glass cuts are not the best, you can see imperfections on the edges. Great Lakes says they their front panel has flat polished edges.

Thank you. I have received quotes including shipping from Miracles, Great Lakes and GC.

Miracles and Great Lakes are pretty much spot on, GC comes in about $300 cheaper and that is only because of cheaper shipping charges.

I have no problem saving about $400 and driving to Detroit...seems well worth it considering it will go to something else for the tank.

How big of a tank?

Chris at PicoAquariums does nice work, but medium to small tanks only I think.

I will say the Miracles stuff I have seen is mind blowing.

I have a Miracles myself and it is a stunning tank to say the least, flat polished cuts, diamond edges, perfect no slop seams. I was wondering if paying the extra shipping cost would be worth it...and it was. Here some images of it when I did my new build: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2277057

Definitely loved my Miracles tank. I got exactly what I wanted: a 36x30x30 Rimless. That said, I'm exiting the hobby in case you're interested ;)
