May take you up on the calk gun offer..... don't know what a square is though (besides the obvious).
Is it to make the corners perfect?

yes it is when you cut the glass with your diamond you want to make perfect lines with 90 degrees in all 4 corners or you will have gaps in the corners that will want to leak. you can use the squares as a guide for the diamond wheel got clamps you will need also

Oh dear - good thing I'm not cutting the glass myself. Thank sound scary. I had the pieces cut already. They're sitting here on my dining room table - next to the rocks which are laid out nicely on newspaper. Good thing I'm not expecting anyone for dinner

Alright! Glad to see another person taking on this type of challange. I'll be helping out my friend with his new tank when he gets that started. I may do a shallow rimless for BTA's and plumb it into my reef system when I get things moved to the new place. Keep pics of the build and post them whenever!

Na i could take or leave the power tools plus when cutting glass they use high pressure water jets or diamond wheels it looks like a pen.

I am excited to see your new tank any plans for a pistol shrimp?

Alas no pistol shrimp.... part of the reason for the new tank is to rescue some corals from being perpetually buried alive
Although..... no please, don't tempt me!
Right now I'm thinking one or two yellow striped cleaner gobies and perhaps a flaming prawn goby. We'll see... it is only 7g.
And a pom pom crab (mine is mia )
and maybe some sexy shrimp....
