I have never claimed to be a member of COMAS. I respect this club, and its right to receive sponsorship and/or support from the local fish stores. Beyond this thread, I will be weary of commenting on any further COMAS affiliated threads for fear of any type of backlash. This is indeed not an open forum; it is far too politically--perhaps financially-- affiliated to speak openly.
I don't know all the details of why sponsorship has been lost, but this is deeply disturbing to me. If anything I have said has caused removal of sponsorship, I am sorry for that outcome, but it was not my intention for this to happen; I merely wished to express an honest review of my experiences.
I'm under the assumption that a sponsor wishes to withdraw support for less-than-stellar reviews on a PUBLIC forum. If this is indeed the reason for this occurrence, it leads me to believe that the sponsorship by said supporter was nothing more than an attempt to use a non-profit organization for a form of paid word-of-mouth advertising. All of this trouble leads me to question the integrity of COMAS. How can I possibly be enticed to join any interest-based club which does not encourage open criticism of LFS and businesses, regardless of financial support from said organizations? I hold that any honest business will welcome both negative and positive reviews and do its best to improve on customer service.
Removal of support, simply on the basis of a negative review in a public forum, is not a healthy way of dealing with negative PR. Perhaps a better solution would be to re-evaluate business practices instead of bashing the messengers, and innocent by-standards: COMAS?
I am again, sorry for any trouble I may have caused.
I welcome meeting each and every one of you with open arms. This is a great --albeit commercial-- HOBBY we share, and I welcome the opportunity to meet other passionate reefers, regardless of political or financial affiliations.
Best,
Joseph
