Custom Sump: Glass or Acrylic

Still in the process of setting up my 320 and am debating on whether to order a custome Reef Savvy sump with display quality glass and baffles (polished and beveled edges) or a custom acrylic sump with colored acrylic bracing and baffles. The price is within $40 for a 60x24x16 sump.

Would you go glass or acrylic and please tell me why you picked on or the other?

Hi, i have had both glass and acrylic, I really prefer acrylic as it is quieter dealing with pump vibrations and no worries of breaking glass and easy to modify wth holes and adding baffles, etc.

In fact today, my main chore is pulling out sump and cleaning it - its been 7 months. Also I need to trim height down 3/4 inch for a new skimmer I am getting in this week. Simple job with my Jet cabinet saw. That is something you cannot do with glass.

Acrylic for me, had a glass sump for years, but overall the peace of mind knowing it won't crack the way glass does goes a long way.

I have to agree with acrylic for the sump, down there you dont relly have to worry about scratches, and being able to cut an ddrill for later modifications is real nice. I was moving my sump around and just as I was lifting it slipped and dropped right on the edge of the stand, left a good scratch but no worse for wear, if that had been glass I am pretty sure I would have been buying a new sump.

Looks like everyone prefers acrylic. Glass just looks great in the beginning, but I get the point of being able to modify the acrylic sump.

Anyone have any design suggestions. I would like to have a with (4) 4' socks or (3) 7" socks, a fairly large refugium and section for my rather large skimmer and a return area. I intend to run fairly low flow and get my display flow from (2) MP 60's and (2) MP 40's.
