What is the typical relative cost of a custom sump? for say a 110 gallon tank maybe a 35-55 gallon with filter sock area, place for in sump skimmer and baffles for micro bubbles and side drilled for 2" return.
I hate my sump and would love an upgrade but want to know a general price range and if they are worth the money 0-250 | 250-500 | 500-750 | 750-1000+?

I'd say you can expect to pay $250 minimum for one custom made. You can purchase some pre-made sumps on ebay for less than $150.

Have you considered making one? What size tank can you fit under your stand? A 40g breeder makes for a nice sump, just get a few pieces of glass cut at a local glass shop and silicone them in place. If you get a good deal on the tank (craigslist or petco $1/gallon sale comes to mind) you can expect to pay around $100 .

For that size I would say between 250-500. I would think 350 would be reasonable though. I would wonder what they are doing if they want almost 500 just for a sump.

My totally custom built sump from Elite Aquatics here in Utah cost me a little over $200. It was totally custom done and a design he had never done before.

It holds like 11 gallons totally full is all but has some other built in stuff that upped the price. You can check out his site at www.elite-aquatics.net I think. There might not be a hyphen in there.

Thickness and size both play a roll in the price.

Look up Trigger Systems sumps. Extremely high quality. Expect to pay $215-$300 for a tank your size. I purchased their Crystal 30 and absolutely love it.

With a few tools and a little patience, acrylic is not too difficult. There are many threads here to guide you. This is 64g total volume with a 22g fuge. I dont have any good sources to buy acrylic without paying shipping. This sheet cost $172.00.

tobyte1......did you use any particular thread to guide you!?

I did not. I have seen many threads on here though. I used to run an acrylic fabrication business, so I have a lot of experience. If you want some one-on-one advice, just PM me. I will help you any way that I can.
