Custom tank builder

Hi guys I'm looking for affordable tank builders that you guys recommend..

What I'm looking for: all glass 72x24x30 220g with an external overflow coast to coast.

I was going to buy a marine land but my lfs told me he can't cut the glass how I want I need a custom tank.

I got a quote from miracles for more than I want to pay. Great lakes aquarium has the right price but doesn't do coast to coast. Reef savvy is probably out of my price range. I contacted planet aquarium and a.g.e and am waiting for replies but wanted to see if anyone recommends anyone else

Near PA would be better but beggars can't be choosers

I just had a very similar tank built by Miracles. 230g 72x24x31 high. External overflow on one end for a penninsula setup. Overall I was satisfied, although I did have some relatively minor issues with build quality and communication. I also got a quote from Coast to Coast -- it was about 70% higher than Miracles. I never would have imagined I would end up spending as much as I did! Last fall I had almost the same tank (although thinner glass) on order from Deep Sea Aquatics for about 30% less than Miracles -- but they went out of business. :sad2:

If your quote from Miracles was more than you wanted to spend, I wouldn't even bother with coast to coast in NJ. Their tanks are nice looking but I guarantee your jaw will hit the floor when you get their quote back.

Thanks for the info too bad about deep sea

I will look into coast to coast

Anyone have a big glasscages tank? They are cheap but I've read some bad things..

I cant speak for the tanks themselves but the guy that runs the business is a total asshat in my opinion. I wanted to purchase a small 20 gallon cube from them at the local reptile show some years back. They wanted to charge me a flat shipping rate that would have been more than the tank (even though they were not shipping the tank just bringing it on their trailer to the event). They charge the same for a 20 gallon tank as they do for up to a 100 gallon tank or something like that. Which I know to bring a 20 gallon cube tank on their trailer is probably not a huge deal. I would have paid some extra money for it but not more than the tank is worth. I would stay away. They don't care about their customers.

I use to be able to say I was a happy customer.
I had 2 of their tanks, but the 2nd one I bought had a failure in the bottom seam.
Fortunately for me it was a slow leak and gave me time to order a new custom tank from a local builder, Oceans By Design. They make great tanks but the shipping to PA from WA. would probably be a budget buster.

I would NEVER recommend Coast to Coast. My tank came out looking like sh*t, and they gave me a lot of bs excuses for THEIR crappy workmanship, including blaming UPS for chipping in the bracing. (I believed them until I saw several other people posting here and on other board with similarly crappy looking product.) Unfortunately, I couldn't see how poor it looked until I had fully uncrated it at home, but by then I had signed off on the delivery at freight depot (after opening, climbing in with flashlight, and thoroughly inspecting all around the seams from inside the tank) and taken possession, so their attitude was too-bad-so-sad.

Ugly fissures throughout the silicone, chipped bracing, wavy edges that look like crap in float glass (I had originally requested starfire for bracing, they talked me out of it saying difference wouldn't be noticeable), and all-around line of b.s. Pat made threat that he would make it his life's mission to "go after" anyone that bad-mouths his company online.

For what they charged, I should have gotten Reef Savvy tank. So very, very unhappy with this tank

Not clear from your post which manufacturer you're referring to. Glass Cages or CTC.

The Glass Cages is the tank that failed on me.

The builder I went with to build a new 240 was a company called Oceans By Design.

Since then the owner sold his business to Crystal Reef Aquatics in Bellingham Washington, and continues to build tanks for them.
