Use a PVC cutting tool. It cuts it easily and without the shaving mess of sawing it off, plus you can get it into tight spaces that you don't want the saw in. You'll be much happier that you did. They have them at HD and is where I got mine at, here's a link to what it looks like. HTH.

I third the pvc cutters. I used them and they are great!! quick, easy, and you dont get all the shavings that you have to clean off the pipe. also they will cut through a 2" tree trunk!!! lol wifey used them in the yard!!
If you do go the saw route, Home Depot has a PVC saw that works about fifty times better than either a hacksaw or other general purpose saw. It cuts very quickly. I use it on 2" PVC, I also have one of those cutters for the smaller stuff, although if I have the saw handy sometimes I just use that....it really makes short work of it.
