Have you trying Dr Tim's aquatics re fresh and waste away?

It works for me even I mistake overdosed and they are all doing fine whew...

Do you guys that still dose the SB see any problem with adding it to your top off water? I already have a airstone in my top off water. Do you think this will be overdosing it?

Wow I got a HUGE green Algae outbreak after using this stuff for 8 weeks now. It is almost like I am recycling my tank all over again. Here are some pictures. Has anyone else have this happen? Dan.

Nice Tank. To answer your first question, I would not add it to your top off water. I don't think there would be any benefit to doing that being that there is nothing to feed the bacteria in fresh top off. So the active bacteria may break down into harmful organics. As for the algae, I haven't seen anything like that before as a result of SB. Have you recently checked your PO4 levels? My best bet is that either way, it will eventually cycle out with smaller feedings and regular water changes... check the TDS reading on your top off water as well.

I have been dosing special blend for 3 weeks now. I do not see much change in cyano. However I do see that it is lifting off the rocks and from the back wall. Is that a good sign? It is like a raised stick with bubbles on it in some parts.

Sounds to me like it could possibly be dinoflagellates and not cyano-maybe do a search for dinoflagellate and take a look

Thanks for this thread. Im starting to get a small patch of cyano myself and i just went and got SB. I went through the entire thread, but ive seem to have missed the part on weekly water changers.

Do you still continue to do them while using SB??

Yes.....but when I was using sb I did the water change prior to adding the sb dose.

I just got rid of my cyano. I used Cyano Solution. It's completely gone. No issues with a packed mixed reef.

Took almost 2 weeks for the skimmer to settle back down.
