hey I have a rock that has alot of cyano and buble algae on it. My new emerald crab could care less it seems. how doI manually remove them? I was thinking of just putting it in a bucket and scrubbing away at it.

try to pluck the bubble algae off the rock with something soft, If it breaks you can spread the stuff like wild fire from what ive heard. The Cyano fix I used was chemiclean, but if its just one rock you may try scrubbing first. good luck!

Although it is commonly held that popping bubble algae can spread spores that grow into new ones. I have personnally popped many and have talked to others who have popped them without incident. Scrubbing a rock clean will work for the one rock. And chemiclean can work for a temporary quick fix. Of course neither cures the underlying cause, which is heavy organics in the water. For this you need to either control the influx of organics (less feeding) and/or remove them (better skimmer and water changes).

Good luck!

its only on one rock though lol thanks im gonna pluck and scrub it, new post to come, kinda on the same principle

Ive heard both ways on the bubble algae popping, did a non scientific experiment, had one rock with 2 BA bubbles about the same size, put them in 2 seperate 10g tanks and poped one. The tank I poped one in had 6 more spots 3 near the poped piece and 3 a few inches away, the other tank I let just grow and it never spread....... Im not saying it always happens, nor was that little trial a perfect trial, could have been millions of variables, but regardless I try not to pop them now.
