cycle question

i took apart my aquarium to get rid of the plenum. i saved 60% of the water and scrubbed the hair algae of the rock with a quick watering from the garden hose(all done out of the tank). the original sand bed averaged 3/4". i added 2.5" more live sand (from bag) and replaced all the rock back in the aquarium. i have a yellow watchman goby and a leather coral in the tank. will it go through a cycle? do i need to do/watch for anything due to the change? my skimmer really is not acting up much since the disruption. the tank is almost 2 years old.

I would imagine that blasting your rocks with the waterhose (freshwater) probably did some serious damage to things living in/on the rock. You'll probably see some resulting die off. No telling if it will be enough to see an ammonia spike.

On top of that, you've removed your plenum, and the associated bacteria. The rest of the aquarium will need time to adjust. There's really more going on than an initial "cycle", it's more a game of bacterial population dynamics, increasing to meet the tank's demand.
