any idea how long it takes an 8 gal. to cycle 10 lb live sand 5 lb live rock.the wife is driving me crazy wanting to put something in the tank.

How long has the cycle been going?

Can be anywhere from a couple days to a month, every tank is different. You need to test ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate to see when your cycle is finished.
