Been cycling new tank for two weeks. lots of live rock and a stuffed fuge. never will do damsels again durring cycle. thinking clowns are from damsel family and verry hardy. anyone think id be fine putting my two clowns in new tank??

I agree that you shouldn't. But, rather than use any fish at all, rely on the live rock you put in...and you can throw in some frozen shrimp...the kind you get at the supermarket in the frozen foods section. Then just monitor the water with testing for ammonia and nitrates.

Why not just let the tank cycle without adding anything. The die-off on the liverock should be sufficient to get things rolling...

Patience is your best friend! :)

Save the clowns, eat the cocktail shrimp. It's a win-win-win!

Please don't use any live animals to cycle a tank. If there isn't enough organic matter in the LR to cycle the tank, just throw a piece of fish or shrimp from the grocery store in there. Once the ammonia and nitrite are undetectable, then you can start stocking the tank.
