how many days of 0 amonia tests before I can go to the next step and put in my second set of rock? Its been 3 and my amonia never really even got over .5 So I am curious and anxious.

you can put in all of your Live Rock. What you need to test for, after your ammonia has gone down to zero, is your Nitrites. They will now start spiking. When they have gone down to zero as well, you’re okay to slowly start adding critters. The Nitrates will continue to accumulate from that point on, which you control through water changes.

tagging along again :) Nitrates can be handled through water changes, but also skimming and nutrient transport via macro algae such as cheatomorph - phosphate reactors and carbon can help, too. Don't forget the cleanup crew - snails, shrimp, worms.

I agree...if you've got nothing living in the tank then you've got no reason to stall. Get all you live rock in, let what dies rot and go away, then start testing Amonia and Nitrite. Once they hit zero and you start to see Nitrates get a cleanup crew and a fish in there.

If you wait..you're just prolonging your agony.
