hey guys my tank is cycleing and i have notice the sand is turning like a redish color just woundering if this is normal

The picture is not viewable, but it is probably either diatoms or cyanobacteria. Both are common in new tanks. Additional water flow may help reduce the problem.

It's normal but you want to make sure that you have plenty of water movement in the tank.

Looks like diatoms to me. When my tank cycled it crept in over a 4-5 day time frame, covering everything... It was pretty heavy for 3-4 days, then I tossed in a CUC and is disappeared in 2 days (cuc was a mix of turbo snails and blue legged hermits). I am not sure if the CUC cleaned it up, or if it died off and disappeared on it's own and was just coincidental timing.

I am getting the same thing right now too, showing up on the rocks and the sand. Totaly normal, just part of the new tank cycle.

so just add a power head to increase water movement and it should all go away?
