I will be getting a innovated marine 40gal here soon and was wondering if It would be best just to cycle the take with uncured live rock, live sand.
I'm not sure on what filtration I should run during this process, I planned on just running the spong basket or filter socks in the back of the take along with filling the rest of the back with " highly pours stone balls " in the compartment with the pumps. any opinion on what I should get in regards to the amount of sand and live rock, and or cycling tips? Also should I do water changes during this process using the in cures live rock?

Go ahead and run your skimmer if you have one. As for rock, some people do 1lb we gallon, but I don't exactly go by that. I would say wait about three weeks or so without doing a water change. Maybe longer. What do you mean stone balls? If they hold the same purpose as "bioballs" I would probably avoid using those.

For cycling tips, basically just add all the sand (enough to have about 2"deep), then make an aquascape you like with your live rock and add water. The important thing is to not add livestock until the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates drop to zero. If you don't have those test kits, you will need to get them. Test for ammonia first. Then you will see that quickly turn into nitrites, and soon nitrites will convert to nitrates. Once that process is complete, add a couple of small fish and monitor those levels again. This process should take around a month. After a couple of fish have been added and your ammonia, nitrites, nitrates are at good levels, you could add some corals if your lighting and flow is correct. It is also important to add livestock slowly to avoid shocking your bio load. Patience is key.

Following what was said above after you see the nitrites convert into nitrates and there is no ammonia or nitrite in the tank you might want to do a small water change to at least lower the nitrates. If the rock you are using is actually live and needs to be cured you shouldn't really need to add anything because the die off from the rock should cause an ammonia spike of its own and get the cycle started without you doing anything.

Ive heard and read dont use filter socks while cycling, they can trap/slow bacteria from reaching that cermedia balls..
