Cycling... Diatom outbreak? PICS

Ok, first I know that diatoms are a natural part of cycling a new aquarium. I just want to verify that this is what I have.

Two days ago, most of the rock was clean and becoming encrusted with what I assume was a white form of coraline. Then almost overnight there is a rusty golden-brown algae. It is also patchy on parts of the glass, and it kind of flakes off when I rub it.

So, is this a diatom outbreak?
Should I try to do anything about it, or will it go away on its own?

Dead? Hmmmm, it's odd then, because it really seems to be spreading and becoming noticably thicker where there was previuously no coraline, just brown rock.

I could have swore I read somewhere that coraline can be many different colors, including white. I suspected it was white because I ran no lights for a couple weeks during the cycle and I haven't been supplementing anything. It sure isn't behaving like something that's dead though.
