Hey guys I've been in the process of building and cycling my new 75 gallon tank. Been running now for about a week with live rock and live sand in it. Tonight I bought 25lbs of dry/dead rock and began moving my live rock around to aquascape my tank with the new dry rock and as I picked up one of the live rocks a sea star fell out of it!
My question is I'm assuming he isn't going to be bad for my tank. But would like to know what I should do to hopefully be sure he lives through the cycling process of my tank as it's only been going for a month. Nothing else is in my tank but the about 40lb mix of live and dry/dead rock and live sand. Or is he going to be something I need to get out of the tank if I can manage to find him again because he buried himself into my sand bed. I'm guessing he is some kind of serpent sea star based on how he looked with the long skinny arms to him and looked to have maybe black banded stripes on him with a light colored body. Was maybe 3-4" in size in arm span.
Should I drop in some fish food for him? Or will he survive off of whatever bacteria and algae the live rock and live sand have and give off?
