i have new uncured rock cycling in my display, if i turn on the halides will it bleach any developing coralline algaes. Has anyone heard of this happening?

Chances are the new uncured rock with bleaching coralline is caused by something that happened to the rock prior to you beginning to cure it. Like coralline covered rock left out on deck of boat for extended period of time (days maybe) before getting put into a bin, and subsequently your tank. I doubt your halides will cause this issue, mine never did.

Just an opinion --landlord

My experience is that most of your corraline algae will turn white as it dies off during the curing cycle. Then new corraline will grow over time.

PLAYA-1 thats what i thought, but a friend had suggested that running my halides while the tank was cycling would bleach out any coraline algae that would be on the rocks. now i was only running the halides to see how much temperature fluctuation i will have running 3-250w pendents which happen to only be 3in
off the water. so it looks like i'll be building a taller canopy to raise lights 5-6 more inches.
my temp went from 79-84.8 over 9 hours.
