how do i know when my tank is done cycling?

with out a dsb or a refugeum of macro algae there is no other way besides waterchanges is there?

well the little bit of live rock the tank has has very little coraline growth on it so.............

The bacteria within the LR complete the N cycle. Algae like macro and coraline just bind the nutrients and need to be exported, but the bacteria found within the DSB and LR complete the cycle and transform NO3 to gas.

a 75 gallon tank with only about 10 or 15 lbs of live rock and the rest dried base rock that has been set up for a couple months probably wouldnt be able to handle its nitrate load with only the live rock would it?
