Question I thought I read on this site that I didn't need a light during the cycling phase but the I sees YouTube video saying you do need a light. So what happens if my tank has started to cycle with out lights.
Some nitrifying bacteria are photosensitive, but it's not likely to make a big diff. People do it both ways and their tanks turn out fine. There's pros and cons to each, but since you're already started I wouldn't worry about it.
If you are going to be running a skimmer, I would put it in and start it running a week before you put in your first livestock. This gives it a chance to break in and get rid of the microbubbles.
