If a fish has had ich long enough to have a cyst develop, will the cyst heal during the hypo or will the cyst be there forever

and if the cyst will heal should hyp be extended for 4 weeks after the healing of the cyst

Thanks

You don't have a good grasp on what a cyst is. Take a look at the diagram in this reference:
http://www.petsforum.com/personal/trevor-jones/marineich.html

The 'cyst' is not usually on the fish. It is a stage after leaving the fish. If you are referring instead to the Trophont (the white speck on the fish), then it will go away from the fish when it moves on to its next stage.

Dr. Burgess has found that a cyst (laying at the bottom of your aquarium) could exist without releasing the free-swimming infectious Theronts for up to 6 weeks. So, after you see the last speck disappear from the surface of your fish, you continue treatment for 6 more weeks. Then slowly raise the salinity and observe your fish at least 2 more weeks to verify you have cured it, before putting it into your display.

Hope this helps!

I have seen those cysts on the fish near head and tail fin and they have already fallen off, now the fish seems to have a bigger marks on his head, for lack of a better way to explain... Its kind of like velvet, if u brush it one way its a dark color if u brush the opposite way its a whiter, lighter color. This is what his head is starting to look like. Its a coral beauty so hes a dark purplish, so it kinda looks just like the velvet example. Maybe what Im seeing is the mucus they secrete im not sure. Ive tried to get pics but the fish is very active its a pain ill try again tonight. Thanks for the response

The fish's natural defense against parasitic attack is its mucous (or slime) coating. Like you wrote, maybe that is what you're seeing?

Make sure it isn't tiny white specs. If it is, that is called Marine Velvet. So watch the use of the word "velvet!" :D It is a particularly fast moving, often fatal disease.

During recovery from a Marine Ich infection, your fish needs the best nutrition to help it repair its coating and damaged tissues. Feed the best foods, proper for that fish, and include vitamin and fat additives along with some beta glucan.

Im positive it had tiny white specs before, it was about a week ago. ive been waiting for my refractometer to arrive, it did today. I'll do some google searches for the marine velvet, im not familiar and i dont know if it can be spread or anything
Im feeding foods that i think are best and adding some garlic and selcon a few others things i have

Thanks for the help!
