D & D Terminator II Skimmer

I was just curious if anyone had any experience with these skimmers or any others by this brand. I've done some web and RC searches and haven't found anything about them except for the small blurbs associated with them on sites that are selling them (which are clearly biased to sell the things). They seem like a steal as far as price ($150), so if you go with the idea that you pay for what you get, then they would be pieces of junk. At the same time, it might just be the companies way of grabbing some market share with a brand new product (especially because the mark-up on skimmers seems pretty absurd in most cases). Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with them. They have them at the aquatic critter if you have no idea what I'm even talking about.

What type of pump runs them(make, gph, max head etc..), what makes the bubbles(venturi, needlewheel, pinwheel?) and what are the dimensions of the reaction tube. Those three things will tell you a lot about the skimmer.

The best information I have found about these is right here. Needless to say, this is very limited. It is definitely an interesting design, but whether that means it works well or not is another question entirely.

I suspect we will soon see a huge influx of knock-offs from China. Something along the lines of Wal-mart quality/prices or "disposable" skimmers amoung many other products. Their web site doesnt list the country of origin.

I'm pretty sure it is actually an American company based in Bagdad, KY. I found their website (D and D Marine). That doesn't necessarily say to me whether it is good or bad. As long as it skims well, at $150 it only needs to last about 1/2 to 1/3 as long as the majority of other similarly sized skimmers on the market...

I just wondered if anyone had any experience with them. I've exhausted all of my web searching know-how to find anything related to their performance.

Chris,
Thanks for the posts. I need to get the RC membership so I can use their search. I had found a google search that someone had setup for just this site, but it didn't return anything. I thought that was rather bizarre and that there had to be at least someone else who had the same question.

I've e-mailed them to ask them some questions about the skimmer and for more info. I'll let you guys know what I dig up.
