Damage on ClownFish

Anyone ever seen damage to a clown fish from trying to host a branching frogspawn?

I have 3 wounds on the female and a what looks like a torn gill on the male. On the female the wounds look like stuffing being pulled from a cushion.

Both clowns just go nuts a night trying to host a frogspawn (which has retracted.) I have felt the calcified edges of the frogspawn and they are sharp edges and have hooks/points.

Otherwise I have no idea what could cause that kind of damage. I will post pictures tomorrow when the lights come back up. I have them in a QT tank and I am treating for ick as do see what look like small white patches also. So wounded and stressed out at the same time.

Both my False Percs host a very large frogspawn and only have the typical light brown spots from getting stung.I think your problem is mostly the ich and a bacteria infection.

I am amazed at the healing rate of these fish. Yesterday the wounds were twice as big as today...

I have a Gold Stripe Maroon hosting in a branching frogspawn and it seems that it always has something damaged on it. I don't know what is causing it, but I don't have crabs in my tank. I know that it attempts to dominate my black and white clown often and the battles can get fierce, so this could be the problem for me. You are right about the repair rate... it is amazing.

I do not have anything but emerald crabs either. The skeletons on the frogspawn seems to be pretty rough. I do not think I have anything rogue in my tank, but I guess you never Know.

My female clown has the same issue. Her gills on the trailing edge look a little torn and one piece of the white stuffing you are describing. I have no hitch hiker crabs in my tank and no frog spawn. I wonder what it could be?
