OK so the LFS is out of Formalin till Thursday, I saw somewhere that a pharmacy may carry it.. Does anyone know if a walgreens or cvs carries it and if so what section is it in?

Try the pet section of Walmart. They often carry a selection of fish medications with QuickCure (malachite green and formalin) among them.

ok, i have found Kordon Rid Ich plus..
Contains formaldehyde and premium quality aquaculture-grade zinc-free chloride salt of malachite green.
Would this work?

it would but i believe you have to dose 3.2x the regular dosage, since it's only contains something like 11% of formaldehyde. Formalin is 37% formaldehyde.

ok, so the dosage on the bottle is 1tsp per 10 gallons maybe something like 3 teaspoons per 10 gallons?

I did a fresh water dip with 1 gallon of water and a small amount of treatment.
The Maroon Clown was in the water 15 Min and you could see the coating pealing off him. I also did my box fish for 10 minutes. Affected fish are in the QT.

Should I continue to fresh water dip, or let the treatment in the qt work?

So far the fish look good, Time will tell.

Yeah looks like brook. Formalin is supposedly the best med for it.

If you are using something like amquel+ to control ammonia, watch out. Formalin and amquel and the like do not mix. Apparently it reacts and makes an even more toxic compound (formalin is toxic enough on it's own).

I have heard different instructions. From treating with formalin in the QT, to only doing formalin dips a few times a day. I guess both methods may work, depending on the severity.
