Damn hermits!!

My hermits knocked my frogspawn into my little frag of blasto's and it looks like it killed them all. 2 heads still have green in the center. Do you guys think that there is a chance they will come back?

I am really starting to hate my hermit crabs (they walk all over my new zoa and it closes up). I say get rid of them ... if I weren't so concerned about causing their death, I would get rid of mine in a heartbeat.

i had a hermit actually dig into one of my lobos to get to a piece of silverside it just ate. damaged the coral pretty bad- but its recovering. However the hermits are sump dwellers now.

i keep most of the crabs in the sump together with all of the sand . when i feed flakes i let it fall on the surface and i dont keep sponge in the overflow , so what ever fish did not catch goes straght to hermits. when i spot feed i do not have any thives this way, befor it was a nightmare

Not that the snails are better behaved when it comes to knocking stuff over, but my hermits were literally tearing into my sun coral after each feeding. They've been in the sump ever since. I never wanted hermits . . . they were a free gift each time I ordered something from a few different vendors. Shrimps like to steal food too, but I take comfort in the fact that my shrimp aren't strong enough to tear open polyps like my hermits can.

I hate my shrimp, she is more pesky then the hermits. I would like to get rid of them all together, but then my tank lacks the looks I like.

My shrimps are evil- and they are much faster than the hermits. I feed the corals, then fight them off with the turkey baster. And they clean no one.

I use black nassarius snails (40 or 50 in my 75) for my cleanup crew. They dont crawl on the corals and when I feed they scour the tank clean. Dont have a problem with them knocking things over either.

Cleaner (skunk) shrimps don't, but I have been told by a few hobbyists here in Japan that peppermint shrimps do. Which is why many people here prefer to chemically remove aiptasia. I haven't heard the complaint from people outside of Japan though.

I'm slowly moving out my hermits, but I noticed that the scarlet hermits are less annoying to my LPS than the blue legs.

Thats so funny Linda, I thought I was the only one that did that, I even try to hit my cleaners with the turkey baster. Man, is it aggrivating especially when Im feeding my sun corals...

I caught my red leg hermit eating my Acro in the middle of the night!!!He was actaully sitting between two branches having a nice Buffet! I could not believe my eyes!! alas he is dead now...

my peppermint eats a piece of ANYTHING new i put into the tank,,, sometimes they survive sometimes they dont... so far zoos, mushrooms, xenia, torch and frogspawn have survived... carnation, and two BTAs have been killed along with my high fin red banded goby i just bought...
