Damn this warm weather

Just got home from work and my tank temp is at 82. Usually keep it around 78-79. This warm weather with windows open and no air/heat is causing my tank to warm up. Fish room is currently 79. I guess I can turn the dehumidifier off for a few days back there.

correct me if i am wrong... but doesnt it get more humid with warmer temps?

Dont know what part of the world you are from, but it doesent get both hot AND humid in the summertime around here in st louis.

wait...I may have that backwards.

I am actually hoping for warmer weather for us in NY. Tired of paying the electrical for heating the tanks. Hope it gets to 80 soon.

Well, I have LEDs over mine so I dont have a chiller. So when the temp in them starts to swing up not much i can do. Maybee throw a bag of ice in the sump to let the water chill as it flows past

A great way to do this is to actually use a water/milk jug or soda bottles and fill them with water. Them put them in the freezer to freeze being careful to leave enough room for ice expansion in the container. You can then basically float them and not add any water or anything to the tank and cool it down.

Give that man a cookie!

With my sump being on the concrete floor in the basement (and having AC) I never have to worry about the the temp getting over the desired parameters.

Dude don't worry about the temp so much. As long as you stay below 85 you will be fine. Check it the latest TOTM thread. I let mine swing now for the last year or so and I have yet to see any ill effects.

I'm going to say +1 for the fan. A whooooole lot cheaper than running a chiller... Of coarse once the summer heat rolls in then it's time for the good old A/C "like mother nature intended".
