6 man reef

Learning my lessons here. I added an Atlantic Tang to my mixed reef display tank he looked great for 3 weeks acting and eating well. Then noticed white spots on fins and head. Researched here to find I have introduced Ich with his addition and no QT, (Lesson1) QT all new fish...
I have begun to set up a QT to hypo the Atlantic and 3 damsels that I used to cycle the display tank. The damsels have shown no sign of the parasite.
I began cycling the QT tank(Lesson2 have QT ready) and wondered if the parasite could survive the ammonia spike of the QT cycling?
The LFS led me to believe the damsels were introduced during the original displays cycle for their ability to survive the initial BAD water conditions.
