Damsels with gobies????

I am wondering if anyone has any experience mixing damsels with small gobies??

The tank in question is a 34 gallon (20 inch) cube. It already contains 3 small trima gobies and a highfin banded goby paired with a pistol shrimp. I want to add a pair of either Blues Devel damsels (Chrysiptera Cyanea) or yellow tail damsels (Chrysiptera parasema).

I know damsels can be very aggressive to there own kind and other similar looking fish, But I am wondering if these gobies are small and different looking enough that they will be ignored.

I don't keep both together, The Highfin was in my 65 and I have 5 C. hemicyanea in my 210. That said I would not advise the two together. Although my Damsels are very well behaved with tankmates equal in size or larger I would believe at the very least the Damsel would keep the much smaller gobies hiding most of the time. The damsels can be protective of their space and the little gobies won't have any defense against them.

Your tank sounds very calm. How about some firefish or my personal favorite, yellow or blue assessor.

In your 34? I would go for one single Chrys. damsel. I've only kept the yellow tail, and I love him! He was my first purchase, and he's not been a problem to any fish in my tank, but it's a very large tank.

I did have him temporarly crammed into a 37 (a taller version of 20L or 29g) with a yellow tang and purple tang...they were stressed, but no violence. :)
