yupp... i dont know what to do. im having so much trouble catching the damsel. how do i catch it with out having to disessemble my hole tank? any one got any suggestions?

I caught a damsel once. I placed the net in the tank and over a few days fed his favorite food near there. On the third day I fed and SCOOP. Caught him.

Get a big net. The bigger the better. In larger tanks, pond nets work great. I used to have a 10" X 10" net that I would use on fish in my 55g.

Never took me more than a few minutes to corner the little sucker and scoop him out without ever destroying my aquascape.

Damsel in Latin is Devel, every LFS that sells one for cycling atank should have to come back and catch them, most aggressive fish should be added last not first. I am sorry, I feel no symphathy for people who put them in first and did not do any reading on there fish selection and order to add them.

Why does anyone ever buy a damsel? Same story every time. Check this forum or dozens of other sources before you buy any livestock.....lots of headaches avoided

alright thank you. ive learned my mistake... trial and error. now all i need is a simple way to catch a fish (maby a trap or something?)

For my first SW tank I bought a domino damsel. Unbelieveably mean, it would pick on my poor little blenny who's only purpose in life is to scoop up sand in its mouth and sift through its gills... Now I wonder, why on earth buy a blue damsel, when you could get a friendly little blue/green chromis???

As far as catching the damsel, I say suspend a nice big clear plastic bag semi-buoyant in the aquarium, keeping it as open as possible. Then when the damsel swims in and gets stuck, just calmly reach in (with your hand approaching from the side the bag's open), and pull the bag out.

Works great....

uhm okay.. just asking for some friendly advice on ways to catch a fish....

My patented method. Turn all the lights off for an hour or so. Then pull out a flashlight and "shine" him. Total deer in the headlights. But you gotta get in in one scoop or two because they catch on quick. If it doesn't work, wait a day or two and try again.
