Great article Dan. I started up my 65 gallon a few weeks ago. Between you and PaulB I'm debating if I should take the sand back out of the tank. I have about 2 1/2 inches in there.

Thanks.I have been back and forth at least 6 times between BB and DSB and SSB but found,long term sandbeds become a bomb unless you diligently stop the constant accumulation of organics underneath.With me,corals are my goal and acroporas being the most densely stocked species gives merit for bare bottom.Other types of systems may benefit from these extra organics and the fauna provided with the sand but in my case,BB does best.
