dang micro bubbles

ok i have a SKIMMERLESS 24g AP and lately i have been experiencing tons of microbubbles in my tank. The only change i made to it was blocking most of my top overflow to allow for good surface skimming and what this does is allow the actual tank to stay full constantly while the back filter goes up and down with evap. Before that i had no microbubbles what so ever. The pump stays completely submerged at all times and i have no idea where they are coming from!!!

this is very irritating and any info would help. Is it the pump? i have no clue but its making me mad.

Thanks

Do you still have the foam "filter" on your return pump? I was literally ready to walk out the door and go buy a new pump because of microbubbles and lost flow, when I decided to try soaking the pump in vinagar. Once I pulled the back off and found the sopnge I found the problem; I had for gotten I put the sponge on the pump.

no actually i dont think the pump even came with a sponge filter. I took it apart and actually found a piece or rock or something in the pump itself right before the impeller....weird! But its just weird to me because there is really no place that air bubbles could be forming i mean on my overflow i have a piece of filter floss that is filtering the water and that is way before it gets to the pump so idk.

If you have a pump below or close to a water sources outlet, even if it is a inch drop to a sump or something, bubbles will form.

Also, some pumps can cause a whirlpool effect and just suck in the air if they are too close to the top of the water level of that area.
