Danner Mag Drive 9.5 Pump run externally?

One retailer states that Mag Drive pumps cannot be run externally.

Danner's website says it can be installed "in-line" but must be below the waterline so the suction is always flooded. But there is no mention of it not being capable of running externally...which is kind of what I thought "in-line" means.

I'm confused. Can Mag Drive pumps runs externally (out of the water)? What are your experiences with these pumps?

Yes they can be run inline or submersible. Either is fine, Ive done both with no problems.

People seem surprised at how warm mag drives get when run externally. But in reality any pump not sitting in water will get pretty hot to the touch.

i have one that is prob 13 -15 years old and a mag 24 that is almost new both are inline..


You can not kill these pumps.
