Nice looking tank. Just bought the same tank dimension as your and hopefully it turns out nice.
Yup looks great. You definitely hav got that lagoon feel going here.
The scape looks great. Not an easy job considering u have to view them from all sides.
How's the flow in the tank?
What other Zeo products are ya planning to include now and in future?

Aquascaping is definitely challenging but is a lot of fun. Just imagining what the tank will look like when stocked has me excited.
So far the flow is pretty good. When I shut down the old DT I will move over another MP40 which will make the flow even better. I also plan on adding a wave box but I am trying to trade for one since I already have a nano wave box. Most likely I will just DIY one since it seems pretty easy.
Right now I'm just using the zeobak, sponge power, and start 3. I plan on continuing to use these but I will cut the dosages to 1/2 the recommend after a few months. I find that a Ultra low nutrient system requires daily monitoring but I normally travel during the work week so this is not possible. My idea is to use the zeo to manage the nutrient level but only run it at a lower dosage so that nutrients are lowered but not to the extremes the full dosage causes.
There are a couple things that I do that help me replace my sand bed. When I setup my tanks I always put the rock in first then the sand bed. This prevents any movement of the rock when I remove sand since it is sitting on the bottom not the sand. I also keep a shallow sand bed that I vacuum frequently. If I want to remove the sand bed I just syphon it out with the vinyl tube only. Generally, when I am removing the sand it is because it has become cosmetically dirty so I syphon off a thin top layer to reveal the cleaner layer below.
How long as your sand been setup and how deep is it?

The tank is gorgeous and you have got some mad skills in wood working. Love your attention to detail on everything. Have you gotten the teak panels done yet? Can't wait to see those in place...in my minds eye the contrast of the glossy white against stained hardwood panels should look stunning - especially against that beautiful floor you have there.
We are big fans of the tropic eden reefflakes, too. Just the right size for SSB, really nice look, and super clean.

Thanks for the compliments. I haven't gotten to the doors cause I messed up my table saw. It's currently stuck at a 5% angle and I haven't had time to fix it. The fiancee has offered to buy a SawStop since she is always freaked out about me cutting a finger off. I just have to get this one little thing out of the garage to make room....

I currently have 3 lyretail anthias, a powder blue tang, a mystery wrasse, watanabe angel, and a green mandarin in the current tank that will be moved over. In addition to that I want to and an achillies, a female mandarin, another group of anthias other than lyretails and a bunch of smaller gobies or blennies. I really like the personality of barnacle blennies and will most likely have a few of those.
Coral wise the tank will be mostly SPS dominant with some zoas or acans to fill in the areas where the sandbed meets the rock. I also plan using the large open sand bed to keep some larger LPS.

As of now i am dosing Prodibio on my new setup...but, i contemplating on Zeo in future....but need to read up and know more on that before i jump in...
As of now the Prodibio is working for me and tank parameters are fine too.
Do update on your Zeo dosing shedule, your observations and any new Zeo additives you are gonna add in future... we can all learn from ya

Yes it seems to be working. But I'm not sure if my system is an ULNS yet. Parameters are all looking in range. Some small patches of algae on the sand bed are still there though. So I guess I need to let my system run for few more months and take it from there.

The tank was made by Aquarium Obsessed. I got quotes from AO, Miracles, and a few other manufacturers. AO's pricing was about the same as Miracles but I simply got along better with the AO sales rep at the time. The tank is built like a rock. The bottom is one solid piece of 3/4" thick glass and the sides are 1/2" Starfire. I had planned on going rimless but AO talked me into Eurobracing and I was actually happier with it. Rimless tanks are beautiful but unless you are hiding every single piece of plumbing and equipment I dont see the point. The Eurobracing also provides a great place to place things when you are working in the tank.
Anyway, I'm so glad to see the tank coming along so well. How long do you plan on cycling before breaking down the old DT? Are you going to move all the water from the old DT into the new tank at that time?
Sounds like a good plan. ULNS has its own set of headaches as well. You always have to be dosing based on what you are seeing. Corals getting a bit pale... dose AA, greens a bit dull... dose iron.... blues not popping... dose PIF. In reality its a trade off. You might not have to deal with the algae but something else will take up your time. I'm pretty OCD so I would rather spend the time controlling items important to me rather than cleaning up algae so it works for me. That is if I have time and I'm not traveling too much.

Well... funny story. So I added a mandarin into the old tank trying to give it time to fatten up before moving to the new one. I only treated with prazi pro and skipped hypo thinking mandarins cant get ick right. Well a week later all the rest of my fish have ich :furious:. The mandarin is just fine though. So I decided minus well just move the inverts and coral and drop the old tank into hypo.
The tank was doing great before i put everything in and even now I just a trace of ammonia so everything should be ok. I'll just have to keep a watchful eye. Corals look alittle upset from the quick move and the imperfect water but I havent lost anything yet. The fish have 3 more weeks of hypo before they go in so not sure they'll make it in before I head off to my honeymoon.
Still working on getting the aquascaping right but now I have plenty of time.
