Data Base

I have recently rejoined RC and I have a suggestion for future consideration. It will take some effort to get started but may eventually supply invaluable information.
As I read through many treads, I am struck by following a beautiful build only to find it crash. Or the number of times people freely admit the loss of a fish after a few short weeks.
I would like to propose the start of a fish data base. When somebody receives a new fish they can anonymously post the date of purchase and then perhaps a short check list, QT, size, LFS/online etc. Then re enter date of death if and when that occurs.
Over time it would seem that such a data base would be a quick reference for many of the questions that arise about a given species, especially survival rates.
People on this forum are dedicated to supplying the best environment possible for their specimens and should be a great source for this type of compiled data. {If this already exists, my apologies for not finding it.}

I agree that would be a good idea - I have a database that I wrote 25 years ago that I still use to track that information on my own fish. It really helps me keep on track and avoid repeating past problems.

It seems to me that with all the knowledge in the forum and all the fish that have been kept, compiling a data base would be a great source. If you are looking to purchase some $299 Angel and it has a 5 month survival rate you might think twice.
