hey everyone...
does anyone know if there is a place in davis to get live tubifex worms? i know petco doesn't carry them. my betta and his frog buddy love 'em, and i would like to get them more often than just when i can get into sacramento.

thanks guys :)

hello... i couldnt answer your question but i can share things about tubifix worms..i personally think there not good for your fish, alot of my fresh warter fish gets internal parasites and they dont live long..only a couple of years..i really dont recomend tubifix worms, even they are frozen or dried.but its a personal preference...by the way i never have a frog, only fishes..

i have heard a couple things about possible parasites in tubifex... but unfortunately my aquatic frog doesn't eat much if i don't give him the tubifex. tristan, i'll try that place. thanks :) i have to question you a little bit though judging by your interest in organic chemistry. i think you might be a robot. ;)

4th and D is Petcetera. From what I understand they closed recently. (You guys have to keep up, I haven't even lived in Davis for 3 months) ;)

Animal Kingdom in South Davis at the Nugget center on Mace and Chiles may have some. Big emphasis on may. Their number is 756 9663 if I remember right.

Have you tried mosquito larvae? When I had a Betta I raised my own live ones. From what I read, it is their natural diet. The frog would probably like them too.

Not hard to do, just set out some water in a bucket. You have to make sure to harvest them often (a turkey baster works well) or you are just making it easier for the mosquito population to increase.

I froze them in little ice cube trays for the cold months.

that number was on the top of your head, juan? :) i've never been in there so i'll go check it out for the heck of it. i've tried frozen mosquito larvae before, but never live. the idea of raising them makes me a little uneasy though. i would probably forget to harvest and just contribute to the millions we already battle.

Yeah, the last 4 digits spell WOOF. Pretty hard to forget. Plus I've got a bit of Rain Man syndrome.

What about blood worms? Anybody have any use for this stuff? I have tons of it in frozen packets if anybody is interested. Its a long story... ;)

Oh do I ever... I think I have like 20+ of those foil lined packages they sell at the LFS... none of my little beasts seem to care for them no matter how I tried to convince them they would like it better then the mysis.

I will bring some to the meeting Friday in an ice chest with some ice blocks - do you think Round Table will store it in their freezer for the meeting (do not want it to defrost)?

Hmm... one day I may actually have room to store people food in the freezer. :)
