DC return pump

I just bought my 4th Jebao for my new 120G FOWLR build. The other three on my 120G reef, 50G reef, and 29G Seahorse tank have worked flawlessly.

IMO, for something as critical as your return pump, stay away from the cheaper DC pump brands (ie. Jebao). I know tons of people have used them without a hitch... But, last year, I had one in my tank for about 7 months. Worked flawlessly. Went on vacation, pump seized the second night I was away for no apparent reason. Had to call my LFS emergency line to get it replaced with a Mag drive.

This could happen with any pump. I have had a jebao dc6000 running for a long time now without problem. I do not recommend it though. It is noisier than my Old AC return. It uses much less power though. I will be looking into getting a new DC pump soon. Probably the Vectra.

I have the M1. I was very skeptical of buying it because of the price. I'm telling you, it is worth every penny. Super controllable and it doesn't make a peep. No vibrations, nothing. It's awesome.

Yeah I have heard only good things. I have been considering the L1 in case I decide to move my sump into the downstairs garage.

I have a waveline dc6000 on my 125 and it is totally silent. I did have a problem with the power supply but I called the company and had a new 1 here in 2 days free of charge. I'm going to go with a blue water bldc 1200 for my 210 build.

I've been doing a lot of research and the waveline and ecotech pumps both look awesome.

I may end up going ecotech because of the amazing controllability.

I am debating on the waveline , reef octopus, or the ecotech. Not sure if I want to spend the extra $$ on the ecotech.

Yep, I had 3 of 4 Jabao DC return pumps (2 x 4000 lpg 1 x 2,000 lpg) cease functioning. One of the 4000 lpg pumps was on my ATS, and before I discovered it has died, lights had fried 3 months growth on screen - grrrr). None were in use more than 2 months.

But after soaking in vinegar and careful cleaning (well not so careful because I could not get at impeller) 1 of 4000s and 1 of 2000s seem to be working again. But I'm reluctant to use them as anything other than short-term emergency backups for obvious reasons.
