DC4 and DC8 Questions

How come the DC8 only has a max amp of 6?

You have more devices you can plug into it but you have a lower max amp compared to the DC4?

I would think the max amp would be higher since you are doubling the possiblities.

Am I missing something?

If I need to connect (3) 250 PFO HQI ballast and (1) IceCap 430, which DC should I go with?

I also have a JBJ 1/3 Chiller that draws 7.25 amps, which DC will I need to plug this into?

i think it is each outlet max 6 amps as long as the total is less than 15 amps for all outlets combined!

Oh, so each outlet can handle 6amps?

I'm not an electrician so I need someone to explain this to me.

So since my Double PFO HQI ballast pulls 11amps and my JBJ chiller draws 7.25 amps, I couldnt use a the DC8?

no that would be too many total amps for the DC8. you could use two DC4HD's which can pull 15AMPS each but would be alot more money!

KLBJR is correct on the amperage. If you get the DC4HDs with a controller as a package they are cheaper. I think about $148 each. But it sounds like you will need two DC4HDs and they may need to be put on different breakers depending on your house wiring (since you're close to 20 amps with just those two devices).

My lights and Chiller are not on the same line.

I sounds like the DC4s are better for devices with higher amp pull.
