DC4 Control problem

I have an ACIII Pro with a DC8 and DC4HD that's been working great for the last month or so. I decided to hook up a UPS to run my main pump in the case of a power outage. The UPS is plugged into the wall outlet and I just bought a new DC4 which plugs into the UPS to supply the main pump. The DC4 is daisy chained to the DC8.
The problem I am having is that the new DC4 doesn't seem to be working. Originally my main pump was timer named A1. I changed it in the program editor to B1 and adjusted the switch settings on the new DC4 to assign the outlets as B1-4. The main pump was then plugged into B1. All other devices are run on channel A (A1-A12).
When I updated the program the status in aquanotes shows the pump as on but it doesn't run.
I checked the fuse in the new DC4 and it looks OK (the filament is intact). The UPS runs the pump fine if I bypass the DC4.

I guess the question I have is this. Is the problem I am having because I have two different channels running (ie. A and B )or is there something wrong with the DC4?

Another question- If all devices must be on the same channel is it possible to set the DC4 to run timers 13-16? The position of the last two toggle switches for 13-16 are not illustrated on the diagram on the bottom of the unit.

Thanks,
Jay

After an hour or so of going thru the process of elimination I figured out what the problem was. Turns out it was the cord that connects the DC4 to the DC8. One of the connectors wasn't right. I cut off the offending connector and replaced it with a new one and it works fine now.
