DD False Personifer

Is it just me or does the DD False Personifer have an abnormally large white band?

Btw, sharp fish, someone should grab it!

i actually like it...yes i think the white band is wider than normal, i was considering it and the scribbled but decided not to because of my forcasted weather...and they were both avaliable when i checked divers den but the scribbled is now gone

Yes, it does seem much larger. I picked up a 4" one yesterday from a guy locally and it has a lot less white than the DD one.

Anyone have a pic of the DD one for comparison? I noticed the first one I bought had a rather thin white band. The white band is also covered with a very faint blue "webbing" all over it. It also seems to have more yellow on the forehead.

My second has a thicker white band, which is in fact just pure solid white.

I think its just because of the smaller size. Young meredithi really only have a white band. Heres is pic I hoarked off photobucket, followed by the DD photo.

Ahh, I can see that the blue does not reach all the way back on the gill cover, making the white look huge.

And the white goes all the way to the bottom of the fish. I was wondering if it had anything to do with size, your probably right Jeremy.

hmmm, mine (which is smaller than the measured 3+" of this specimen) has a bit more black, but also a pronounced white stripe. However, at the edge of teh operculum, there is a distinct black line, and some darkening. You can actually see it on the DD specimen too. It must be a growth thing.
